Stifel Europe is looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our team in London.
This is a broad, high-impact role within a fast-paced financial services environment, partnering directly with senior leaders across Europe. Working closely with the Head of Human Resources, you'll act as a trusted advisor on complex employee relations matters, organisational change, talent, reward, recruitment and HR operations, while helping shape the future people agenda across the business.
As a senior member of a small and collaborative team, you'll have the opportunity to influence decision-making, lead challenging and business-critical people matters, and drive continuous improvement through data, technology and process enhancement. A key focus of the role will be balancing strategic business partnering with a hands-on approach to operational HR delivery.
The role is subject to the Conduct Rules set by the FCA.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Partnering with senior leaders across Europe to provide pragmatic, commercially focused HR advice and support.
- Managing a broad range of employee relations matters, including performance, disciplinary, grievance, absence, restructuring and redundancy processes.
- Supporting business change initiatives and helping leaders navigate organisational and people-related challenges.
- Coaching managers on people management, employment law and HR best practice.
- Working across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, talent development and employee engagement.
- Collaborating with colleagues across HR, Payroll, Compliance and the wider business to deliver an excellent employee experience.
- Using data, technology and AI tools to improve processes, generate insights and enhance HR service delivery.
This is a varied role that will require you to flex between strategic business partnering and hands-on operational HR, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both influencing senior stakeholders and rolling up their sleeves to get things done.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Substantial HR generalist experience within a financial services environment; experience within an FCA-regulated or similarly regulated environment is strongly preferred.
- Extensive hands-on experience managing complex and high-risk employee relations matters through to resolution, including investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, capability, sickness absence, restructures and exits. Strong UK employment-law knowledge and the ability to assess risk and work effectively with employment counsel; European employment-law exposure is desirable.
- Proven ability to manage competing strategic, advisory and operational priorities within a small, high-volume HR function, with the flexibility and willingness to work hands-on across HR operations and broader business partnering remit.
- Strong and nuanced communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the credibility to advise and constructively challenge senior leaders and adapt across seniority levels, jurisdictions and sensitive employee matters.
- Demonstrable resilience, energy and initiative, with strong judgement and organisational skills and the ability to remain adaptable and solutions-focused when managing complex situations and shifting demands. Motivated by the breadth of the role and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a small, supportive HR team.
- Strong systems, data and process-improvement capability, with confident Excel skills including reconciliation and analysis of larger datasets. Able to produce clear management information and harness technology and automation to strengthen controls, reduce manual intervention and improve decision-making.
- Previous experience of French and/or German HR matters and SAP SuccessFactors is highly desirable.
WHY JOIN US
This is an opportunity to take on a genuinely broad HR role with significant exposure to senior stakeholders across Europe. You'll join a supportive team environment where you'll be empowered to influence outcomes, enhance processes and make a tangible impact on both the business and employee experience.
