Join the Nuclear Graduates programme to gain hands-on experience in nuclear physics, radiation transport, and reactor core design across leading UK nuclear organisations.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and applying knowledge of nuclear physics, radiation transport, and nuclear codes.
- Using deterministic transport codes and Monte Carlo techniques for reactor core analysis, shielding design, and criticality safety assessments.
- Conducting nuclear analysis with a wide range of codes and radiation transport simulations.
- Participating in the operation and experimentation related to naval nuclear reactor core design and maintenance.
- Performing radiological dose assessments and detector calculations.
- Understanding and contributing to safety justifications as part of engineering processes.
- Collaborating with experts across sponsoring organisations including Rolls-Royce, Office for Nuclear Regulation, and Great British Energy - Nuclear.
- Engaging in three secondments to gain diverse sector experience.
About You
The company is looking for candidates who have:
- A minimum 2:2 Bachelor’s degree in Physics or a degree with a strong physics focus.
- Educational experience and strong interest in nuclear physics.
- Some experience with coding or scripting languages.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Right to work in the UK for the duration of the two-year programme.
- Willingness and ability to travel and relocate as required.
- Successful completion of security clearance checks.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary of £30,000 per year.
- £5,500 individual travel budget for training and meetings.
