Job Title: Sushi Chef

Location: [PlaceName]

Calling Strange Fish of xxx. We’re looking for you, a true craftsperson, passionate about creating things in the best way, to the very best they can be. You’ll have busy restaurant experience, but a calm spirit that tunes in and focusses, rising above that buzz. Then you’re more than ready for a role in our cold kitchen, the place where you can bring your creativity and flair to the Sticks ‘n’ Sushi family.

Are you

  • Someone who works with hands, head and heart in harmony? A precision-focused individual, even under fast-paced pressure?
  • Positive and fun to be around, in the heat (or cool) of the busy kitchen?
  • Able to adapt and move with change, without letting standards drop?
  • The type who stands shoulder to shoulder with their fellow Strange Fish, with a big smile and a small ego?
  • Culturally curious and hungry to learn more about our Danish ’n’ Japanese roots?

What you’ll be doing at Sticks ’n’ Sushi

  • You’ll be creating top-class sushi dishes, from maki to sashimi to nigiri and beyond.
  • You’ll put your passion and pride into presenting a delicious plate and experience for every guest, every time.
  • Your food will be memorable and make people happy, turning guests into regulars and regulars into friends.
  • You will be part of a family that will help you flourish and become the best you can be.

What you’ll bring to us

  • You already have experience in a busy kitchen and have excellent knife and sushi-making skills.
  • You’re fluent in English, the language of our kitchen (apart from the delicious love language of our food!)
  • You love deepening your craft. You respect the rituals and traditions of sushi but are also curious to bring your own spark and ideas to it.
  • You bring team spirit, kindness, respect. We only swear at ourselves here, no-one else.
  • You think “we” rather than “I”. (And we probably say “Ja tak” more than once a day!)
  • You have a desire to have fun as you work with your fellow Strange Fishes. Togetherness is the word.

How we will support your journey with us

We want you to grow with us, so through our Lead ‘n’ Learn academy, you can keep learning and developing your skills and challenge your responsibilities (and your healthy risk-taking). Our training is structured to both help you shine and create memories, in your role and beyond.

The benefits that go beyond the day to day

Yes, we work hard. But we also laugh, learn, and enjoy the ride. We want all our Strange Fish to be part of building something meaningful and to feel involved in making Sticks ‘n’ Sushi a little bit better every day. A place where everyone belongs and is represented. As well as our Sticks ‘n’ Sushi language lessons (so you can speak our (slightly odd) hosting lingo in no time), you’ll enjoy:

  • Staff food (very, very delicious) every shift.
  • 50% discount across all our restaurants, everywhere (yes – and drinks.)
  • Generous referral bonus schemes.
  • Employee assistance and wellbeing support.
  • Financial wellbeing support.
  • Employee discounts – retail and high street.
  • Team events, unforgettable team parties & awards.

Ready to jump in?

Then click apply, it takes no time at all. At Sticks ’n’ Sushi, we welcome everyone, so we can’t wait to hear about the Strange Fish that you are. If your spark lights ours, we’ll invite you for a chat so we can meet you properly – and then if it really feels right, we’ll dive straight in together.

That’s us.
