A City that has always known how to make things: with its hands, with care, with an unmistakable sense of identity. A City that doesn't follow. A City that does things its own way. This Autumn, Sticks'n'Sushi is coming to Birmingham - our first restaurant in the Midlands, opening in the Paradise development on Chamberlain Square. Sticks’n’Sushi is as unique as the city we're coming to. We serve high-quality, fresh food based on a unique combination of classic and creative sushi along with sticks from the grill, bringing a blend of Danish design, Japanese dining and generous hospitality.
Attracting both families and trendsetters, amazing service in beautiful restaurants is driven by our amazing team - our Strange Fish. Fish are like us: we all swim together. Strange Fish are bold, curious individuals who fit right in here. Those who are comfortable just being themselves, a little different perhaps.
We’re looking for a General Manager of unique skills. You’re a trusted senior, taking the initiative and setting the tone to create a seamless operation. Yet you’re also keen to shape the individual culture of your location and deliver memorable experiences for our Guests and your Fish (the wonderful team) alike.
Are you:
- A bold, entrepreneurial leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment of excellence?
- Sincere about providing genuine, heartfelt hospitality in a fresh food, premium full table service restaurant?
- Interested in learning about Danish 'n' Japanese terminology, culture and heritage?
- Someone who can balance strategic vision with reverence for creating beautiful experiences?
- A caring relationship builder who inspires, unites and brings trust, respect & generosity to their team?
- Able to listen and support with a big smile and a small ego?
What you’ll be doing at Sticks’n’Sushi:
- Being the overall guardian of our culture and hospitality, ensuring consistent quality.
- Leading with passion: coaching, directing and building skills on all levels within your restaurant, driving your Fish to be better (or stranger!).
- Seeking out opportunities to drive growth, with great financial and operational planning & control.
- Building a strong community around your restaurant, welcoming all equally and making sure they leave the real world for a while in the time they spend at Sticks ‘n’ Sushi.
What you’ll bring to us:
- A track record of excellence as a General Manager, ideally in a high-volume, premium branded full table service restaurant.
- The adaptability of water, staying flexible and quickly responding to challenges and changes.
- Strong decision-making capabilities, problem-solving and keeping the positive energy flowing.
- A fiery spark that ignites the creativity of your team to make your restaurant something special in its own right.
How we will support your journey with us:
We want you to grow with us so you can keep learning, developing your skills and challenging your responsibilities (and your healthy risk-taking!). Our training is structured to both help you shine and create memories, in your role and beyond. All our Operations Managers were promoted from within and we are focused on our team's development and progression. We also have many opportunities in our Support Teams and across the UK and Europe, with new openings coming soon.
The benefits that go beyond the day to day:
Yes, we work hard. But we also laugh, learn and enjoy the ride. We want all our Strange Fish to be part of building something meaningful and to feel involved in making Sticks‘n’Sushi a little bit better every day. A place where everyone belongs and is represented. You’ll enjoy:
- Delicious, freshly cooked team meals every shift.
- 50% discount across all our restaurants, everywhere (yes, including drinks).
- A generous bonus scheme.
- Employee assistance and wellbeing support through Hospitality Action.
- Financial wellbeing support with early access to your salary if needed via Wagestream.
- Employee discounts across high street retailers and restaurants.
- Team events, unforgettable parties & annual awards.
