Location: Bristol (Warmley area)

Salary: £26,750 – £32,680 (dependent on experience)

Hours: Full-Time, Permanent

Pertemps are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading power solutions specialist for a PDI Engineer to join their Bristol depot. This is an excellent opportunity to work with one of the South West’s largest generator specialists, supporting a busy depot with the service, maintenance, and preparation of diesel generators and associated equipment for both the hire fleet and external customers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standard while delivering excellent customer service on‑site and within the depot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, service, and maintain hire fleet generators and ancillary equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out breakdown repairs on both hire and customer-owned generators.
  • Attend customer sites to assist with synchronising generator setups for set‑to‑set and set‑to‑mains applications.
  • Assist with general yard duties, including loading/unloading equipment and operating forklifts (training provided if required).
  • Deliver and collect generators and equipment using company vehicles, including refuelling.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the yard, workshop, and vehicles.
  • Support site cable runs and carry out site surveys when required.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota (currently 1 week in 4).
  • Liaise daily with the Depot Foreman regarding equipment, parts, and fuel requirements.
  • Comply with all company Health & Safety and ISO 9001:2015 procedures, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience working with diesel generators and strong fault‑finding abilities.
  • Mechanical or electrical background essential.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (towing categories advantageous).
  • Forklift Licence preferred but training can be provided.
  • CSCS or ECS Card preferred but not essential (training available).
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
