We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Bid Engineer to join our growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in bid preparation, and estimating, who enjoys working where quality, accuracy, and teamwork are key.
As a Bid Engineer, you will play an essential role in preparing and submitting high-quality, competitive bids in response to customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
Working closely with key stakeholders, you will ensure that every submission is compliant with customer requests, commercially competitive, and delivered on time.
The ability to achieve UK security clearance without restrictions is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, specifications, and customer requirements to determine bid scope and compliance.
- Coordinate bid activities across internal departments to ensure timely and effective proposal delivery.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, pricing schedules, and commercial proposals.
- Compile, review, and submit tender documentation in accordance with customer requirements.
- identify commercial risks and contribute to mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate bid documentation and records throughout the tender process.
- Attend bid kick-off meetings, customer clarification meetings, and presentations where required.
- Support the smooth handover of successful bids to the project delivery team following receipt of purchase orders.
- Ensure all bids comply with company procedures, quality standards, and relevant industry regulations.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience preparing bids, proposals, tenders, or cost estimates.
- Logical and commercially aware.
- Good understanding of project costing and estimating techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Ability to work to multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational and project coordination skills.
- Customer focused.
Desirable
- Experience using ERP systems, Sugar CRM, or estimating software.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and commercial principles.
- Experience working within the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) sector
This role is on a full time, Permanentcontract, working 37 hours flexitime across 4.5 days per week.
