SThree are pleased to announce we’re recruiting for a talented Development Team Lead to join & guide our excellent team based in our fantastic office space located in 8 Bishopsgate, London. As a Java Team Lead at SThree, this is an exciting opportunity to lead the Java Development team working on the Liferay portal. The team of Frontend and Backend Engineering will require coaching and managing. Using Agile framework, the Team Lead will manage sprints, estimations and delivery as well as upgrades to the platform.

What are the day-to-day tasks?

  • Team Management: Manage the day to day requirements for the Java team including Holiday management, HR activities, personal development and team communications.
  • Manage upgrades and releases: Manage the release cycle including technical upgrades to the Liferay framework. Work with the testing, DevOps and Infrastructure teams to ensure releases are risk managed, governed and timely.
  • Quality: Actively manage the quality of developed code and manage for low defect rates in both pre-release and production code.
  • Estimations: Take responsibility for delivering estimations in line with actual effort required to achieve development tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work with the CTO and Technical Architects to provide the technical outcomes as per designs.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentor junior team members.
  • Task Management: Manage tasks, track progress, and deliver work effectively.
  • Security: Manage all implementations and development with security risk in mind, such that unnecessary exposure to cyber security risk is avoided.

What skills and knowledge are we looking for?

  • Building web applications on a Java technology stack with a React front end.
  • RESTful API design and implementation.
  • Experience with test-driven development and test automation frameworks and tools.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform.
  • Experience of working in Agile software development teams and across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Experience of building solutions using Liferay DXP would be beneficial.
  • Azure Integration Services (API Management, Service Bus, Event Hub).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Identity Management solutions (Azure AD, Azure AD B2C).
  • Cloud computing architectures and fundamentals like security, performance, and scalability, with experience of working with cloud technologies in Azure.
  • Knowledge of software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
  • Experience in managing teams, including personnel management, HR activities and team professional development.
