We are recruiting an Installation Technician for a specialist organisation providing technical installation and logistics services throughout the UK and occasionally Europe. This is a highly mobile position. You will be working away from home from Monday to Friday each week and could be assigned to projects anywhere in the country. Applicants must therefore be genuinely comfortable with extensive travel, overnight stays, longer working days and working two weekends each month.

The role involves supporting the delivery, positioning, installation and cabling of specialist medical and technical equipment, including systems such as MR and CT scanners.

Key responsibilities
  • Positioning, installing and cabling specialist customer systems
  • Delivering, offloading and positioning high-value equipment
  • Loading and unloading vehicles
  • Completing manual-handling duties
  • Undertaking shared driving and general delivery duties
  • Completing timesheets, delivery paperwork and job documentation
  • Communicating professionally with customers while working on site
  • Supporting other members of the installation team as required
Requirements
  • A full UK driving licence with no more than three penalty points
  • Applicants must be aged 21 or over due to driving and insurance requirements
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills
  • Good computer literacy
  • A practical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • A highly flexible and dependable approach
  • Comfortable working long and variable days
  • Able to stay away from home every week
  • Available to work two weekends per month
  • Mechanical, electrical, installation, transport or technical experience would be advantageous but is not essential
Pay and working-away arrangements
  • £30,000 basic salary
  • Weekday overtime paid at 1.25 times the standard rate
  • Saturday overtime paid at 1.5 times the standard rate
  • Sunday overtime paid at 1.75 times the standard rate
  • Typical annual earnings of approximately £45,000–£50,000 with overtime
  • Hotel accommodation provided when working away, normally in a Premier Inn or Holiday Inn
  • £39.90 daily working-away allowance, with no receipts required

This position would suit someone who enjoys practical work, travelling, working as part of a close-knit team and earning significantly above their basic salary through regular overtime.
