Are you an experienced lettings manager, assistant block manager or experienced block property manager looking for the next career move? If so, keep on reading:
Stevenson Whyte, one of the highest rated building managing agents in the northwest, is looking for a customer service focused property manager to join our team, looking after buildings and estates for our clients. How are we the highest rated? Because we\βre a people first business; limiting unit numbers to make sure workloads are manageable (unlike our competitors) to ensure we\βre able to provide an excellent service. Our property managers care for an average of 500 units, which is around a third that of other agents! Burn out and stress is endemic in the industry and we\βre doing our upmost (genuinely) to not be like our competitors, which is why portfolios are significantly smaller and senior level support is always on hand.
The ideal candidate would already be working as a block property manager, looking for a more rewarding role, however, we also invite applications from those working in lettings management or block management assistant roles looking to further their career, offering much more responsibility and challenges than lettings as you\βll be looking after whole blocks of apartments and estates, not just singular properties. Those with considerable block property management experience will be considered for fast track to a senior property manager role.
We aren\βt a huge corporate, faceless agent; customer service, being proactive and just getting the job done is what sets us out from our competitors. If we sound like the company that you\βre looking for then please do apply. The daily duties would include, but not be limited to:
- Overseeing the smooth running of your portfolio β taking calls, handling enquiries and arranging call outs with contractors.
- Keeping residents updated β either personally or via our bulk message platform.
- Working with clients to set plans for future improvements/maintenance, obtaining quotes and setting a budget to suit.
- Assisting with budget & financial control β checking expenditure and identifying debtors, using our very user friendly system.
- Visiting and inspecting some of our developments β you\βd likely have a couple to look after directly, which will increase with experience.
- Helping to provide updates to clients β informing them of issues and what our plans/recommendations are.
- Identifying potential new business β noting down developments that look unloved, where we may be able to assist.
A relevant qualification would be beneficial but not essential, we\βd support you in attaining TPI accreditation and provide ongoing training.
Other ideal traits are:
- Basic knowledge of financial administration (service charge accounting)
- Effective numeracy and data entry skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines and grasp the urgency of departmental activities
- Excellent problem solving skills
Personal Skills/Attributes
- Maintaining strict confidentiality
- Demonstrate sound work ethics
- Flexibility
- Be assertive and dynamic
- Maintaining relationships with all stakeholders
- Can work independently
- Problem analysis and solving
- Professionalism
- Fast learner
- Full driving licence
Working Hours
This role is full time, 9am-5.30pm plus occasional late working to attend occasional meetings, where time off in lieu is taken.
Our team has doubled in 12 months and shows no signs of stopping. Career progression is very real with Stevenson Whyte, taking on larger buildings and supporting more junior members of the team as your own experience and skills grow. Those with 5+ years of block property manager experience will be considered for progression to Senior Property Manager, broadening responsibilities and being part of our operations team.
The salary range is Β£30,000.00-Β£40,000.00 per year depending on experience. I.e. those with no block management experience would likely have a starting salary in the region of Β£30,000 and those with several years as a block manager and hold TPI qualifications, closer to Β£40,000. Yes, some agents may offer higher salaries but you\βll be given 2-3 times the workload and stress, resulting in a high turnover of staff due to burn out. Thankfully, by putting our people first we do not suffer the same turnover of our competitors.
