About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Duty Solicitor to join our established criminal defence team based in Alsager, Cheshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor looking to work within a supportive and professional environment, providing high-quality representation to clients across Cheshire and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients at police stations as part of the Police Station Duty Solicitor rota
  • Provide expert legal advice and representation in criminal matters
  • Manage your own caseload efficiently and independently
  • Attend Magistrates’ Court as required
  • Ensure compliance with SRA and Legal Aid Agency requirements
  • Maintain high standards of client care and professional conduct

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate
  • Duty Solicitor accreditation preferred but can provide training for right candidate
  • Experience in criminal defence work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong advocacy, communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport (preferred due to police station attendance requirements)
