We have an exciting opportunity available for a paralegal to join our employment, pensions & immigration team to focus on immigration related work. This is an excellent opportunity to work within our top ranked, high calibre team. The team offers a comprehensive immigration capability, with particular expertise in relation to advising employers on business immigration matters. We would consider applicants who wish to work full or part time. We operate a hybrid working model and expect employees to attend our office in Guildford at least two days a week.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking research in relation to immigration applications and matters
  • Assisting clients with completing and submitting online immigration application forms
  • Booking visa and biometrics appointments and assisting with the payment of Home Office fees
  • Assisting with the preparation of immigration applications, including checking forms and documents and uploading documents
  • Proof reading and checking forms and documents for accuracy
  • Taking notes at meetings and on calls
  • Drafting letters and other correspondence in relation to immigration matters and applications, such as advice notes and cover letters
  • Telephone calls to the Home Office, monitoring and checking progress of applications and reporting back to supervising lawyers
  • Liaising with clients
  • Assisting in keeping the team up to date in relation to immigration changes, including preparing for and taking part in know how meetings
  • Assisting with drafting and updating immigration precedent documents
  • Assisting with article writing, webinars, client training and other business development activities as may be required
  • Copying and scanning supporting documents for our records and other administrative support
  • Such other duties as may from time to time be required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants will have a good academic record, including a degree level qualification
  • Applicants may have an LPC, SQE or similar qualification, although this is not essential
  • Prior legal experience, especially in relation to immigration, is preferred but is not essential
