The postholder unlocks the building Wednesday to Friday, so an early start is a must. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and security of the Museum building and stores. They will support the regular programme of changing exhibitions and displays, handling tasks from painting walls to hanging pictures and ensuring technology works. Occasional conservation work may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Unlock the building Wednesday to Friday, ensuring an early start.
  • Maintain, upkeep and secure the museum building and stores.
  • Support changing exhibitions and displays – paint walls, hang pictures, set up displays.
  • Ensure technical equipment works and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Carry out occasional conservation work as needed.

Requirements

  • Flexible, good DIY skills, understanding of health and safety.
  • Problem‑solving, can‑do approach and imagination.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out.
