About The Role
To assist in leading the continuous development and delivery of Stevenage Borough Council’s Planning and Regulatory Service technical support team and ensure that it provides the full range of statutory and non‑statutory and planning and regulatory processing services in line with the Service objectives, including optimising efficiency and service quality outcomes to all users.
As the Assistant Technical Support Manager, you will take a lead role along with the Technical Support Manager in the implementation of continuous improvement to the service in order to support the planning and regulatory service aspirations as a centre of excellence. You will support and lead the optimisation of workflows, service design processes to provide customer centric outcomes as well as respond to the needs of the business to deliver a high‑quality service to stakeholders by proactive analysis of data and constant iteration of processes to maximise delivery.
You will also assist in leading and developing individual technical support officers to provide cost effective and efficient administrative support, provide support to the leadership team, all service specific procurement exercises, develop performance metrics, monitor and provide management reports to guide the team and service performance and ensure the continuous evaluation of performance metrics.

Our ideal person will have experience working within a planning and / or regulatory service, in a busy customer focused area and have fantastic communication skills as you will engage with the public and ensure the service aligns with our corporate standards. Plus, you will assist in leading the delivery of process improvements, enhanced communication strategies and training programs.
