£25,992 to £28,624 pa – pro rata for hours worked JOB TITLE Temporary Accommodation Assistant POST NUMBER 009346 WEEKLY WORKING HOURS 22.2 (3 days Monday to Wednesday) – Job share SALARY RANGE £25,992 to £28,624 pa – pro rata for hours worked TYPE OF CONTRACT Permanent LOCATION Various sites based in Stevenage ABOUT THE ROLE This is a practical, hands-on role supporting the delivery of high-quality temporary and emergency accommodation across Stevenage. As a Temporary Accommodation Assistant, you will be responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of communal areas, the clearance, cleanliness and preparation of void properties, and carrying out minor repairs to ensure accommodation is safe and ready for new residents. You will work closely with the Temporary Accommodation Officers to complete fire alarm tests, health, and safety checks, support vulnerable households, and respond to a wide range of on-site issues. The role also includes important administrative duties such as maintaining logs, arranging access for contractors, and ensuring proper documentation of incidents or concerns. This is a varied and rewarding role suited to someone who enjoys practical tasks, interacting with residents, and making a direct impact on people’s living environments. You will play a key part in helping vulnerable individuals and families feel safe and supported during difficult times in their lives. ABOUT YOU You are someone who thrives in a practical, hands-on environment and takes pride in delivering high standards of cleanliness, safety, and care. You have experience with domestic cleaning and minor maintenance tasks and are confident using tools and equipment safely. You’ll bring strong awareness of health and safety practices (including COSHH) and be comfortable working independently or as part of a team. You are approachable, resilient, and able to deal calmly with vulnerable residents or emotionally challenging situations. You’ll be organised and proactive, able to prioritise tasks, manage your workload, and respond flexibly to the needs of the service. A full driving licence, access to your own vehicle for work, and a willingness to travel across the town are essential. Your ability to maintain confidentiality, support others, and work professionally in a fast-paced environment will be vital to your success in this role.
