Overview
SBC is a not-for-profit life science campus in Stevenage, providing laboratory and office accommodation for around 50 life science companies engaged in research into next generation treatments for serious human diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative brain disorders. Reporting to the Finance Director, this part‑time Finance Manager (three days per week) will run the finance function and lead a small team, supporting senior management with reporting, forecasting, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and mentor the Finance Assistant
- Oversee transactional accounting activities such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll support
- Produce monthly management accounts and variance analysis
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and investments
- Prepare statutory accounts and manage the year‑end audit process
- Monitor financial oversight of capital projects
- Improve and implement financial processes and controls
What We Are Looking For
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with a strong background in operational finance
- Proven experience in managing a month‑end process
- Ability to communicate financial insights to non‑finance audiences
- Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Prior experience of Xero is desirable
- Ability to work onsite three days per week
