We are looking for a well-organised and highly capable Biology Technician to join our team of experienced technicians, supporting the Science department at Sheffield High School for Girls. This role involves supporting the safe delivery of experiments and practical activities in science lessons, helping to optimise teaching and learning.
Responsibilities
- Preparing, setting out and clearing away equipment and materials for lessons and practical examinations.
- Trialling experiments prior to lessons.
- Assisting teachers and pupils during lessons and experiments, supporting the safe use of equipment.
- Maintaining the departmental inventory, including stock control and purchasing of equipment, materials, chemicals, textbooks and audio-visual resources.
- Ensuring high standards of health and safety, keeping work areas tidy, and maintaining equipment in good working order.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of science and a genuine interest in the subject.
- Previous laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting is essential.
- Strong organisational, communication, and manual handling skills are also required.
Working Hours
Term-time only role, working 36 hours per week Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
