A leading global bank is looking to appoint a Vice President – Risk & Control to join its Digital Engineering function in London. This is a senior leadership opportunity sitting at the heart of technology, operational risk, governance, and cyber security. The role will lead the Risk & Control strategy across Digital Engineering Services and Solutions, partnering closely with Engineering, Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Operational Risk, Audit, and senior technology leadership teams. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening a proactive risk culture, providing governance oversight, driving control effectiveness, and delivering clear, decision-ready insight to senior stakeholders and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the Digital Engineering Risk & Control strategy aligned to enterprise risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
  • Own governance, audit, issue management, and control oversight across Digital Engineering platforms and services.
  • Chair monthly Risk & Control forums, presenting risk insights and remediation progress to senior leadership.
  • Develop and manage Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), control frameworks, and proactive monitoring capabilities.
  • Partner with Product and Platform Owners to support risk-based decision making across technology change initiatives.
  • Lead engagement with Internal Audit, IT Risk, Cyber Security, Compliance, and external regulatory stakeholders.
  • Oversee operational risk remediation, control testing, vulnerability governance, and disaster recovery oversight.
  • Drive a strong culture of accountability, governance, and secure-by-design practices across engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading Risk & Control functions within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong background across technology risk, operational risk, governance, audit, and controls.
  • Experience presenting risk insights and governance reporting to senior executives and leadership committees.
  • Strong understanding of frameworks such as NIST, COBIT, SOX, and operational resilience requirements.
  • Experience working closely with Infrastructure, Engineering, Cyber Security, and Incident Management teams.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders across complex organisations.
  • Knowledge of threat & vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and control assurance processes.
