We're currently supporting a client within the construction industry to hire an Estimator within their growing team in Cardiff. Focused on delivering profitable, de-risked, winning bids on time and to the highest quality, while also providing estimating services on projects and strategic & contract changes.
Day to Day
- Leading on tenders, process and resources with a high degree of commercial acumen and skill.
- Identify opportunities to add value and to mitigate against risks / consider solutions throughout the project process.
- Ensure monitoring of the tender process is in place for all tenders and report on progress via estimating plan.
- Lead the pricing process and promote integration of disciplines through accurate reporting and regular internal communication and feedback on relevant tenders.
- To lead the supply chain enquiry process.
- To attend pre-tender and post tender interviews with both internal management and clients and attend internal adjudication and tender progress meetings.
- Proactively maintain the cost base by assisting with latest quotations, framework rates – controlling costs, timing and quality in line with specified targets.
- Working collaboratively and communicating effectively with other areas of the Logistics Department to provide exceptional support.
- Co-operate on matters of health and safety.
Qualifications/Experience
- A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction or Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Junior Estimator or gaining industry knowledge in a relevant field.
Skills
- Commercial awareness and a strong understanding / have a willingness to learn all elements of the construction process.
- Methodical, analytical and organised with an attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Able to undertake measurement exercises, including formulating Bills of Quantities.
Salary ~ Dependent on experience between £40,000 - £60,000 + Package
