The Opportunity

Our client is a premier European leader in commercial and industrial construction, recognised for their innovative engineering and building solutions. Due to continued growth across their UK operations, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their established team in Birmingham.

This position plays a critical role in the pre-construction phase, focusing on large-scale industrial and logistics projects across the country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation & Analysis: Prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates and commercial tenders for industrial and logistics developments.
  • Quantity Measurement: Carry out precise quantity take-offs and measurements from architectural and structural drawings.
  • Subcontractor Enquiries: Issue detailed packages to sub-contractors and suppliers, critically analyzing quotes to ensure competitive pricing and alignment with specifications.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential commercial risks and opportunities during the tender process, presenting mitigation strategies to senior management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal design, engineering, and procurement teams to align technical capabilities with commercial requirements.

Your Profile

  • Experience: Proven track record as an Estimator delivering large-scale industrial or logistics construction projects.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in quantity measurement and cost planning, with the ability to take off quantities from digital drawings.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of modern construction methodologies, materials, and current UK market pricing.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent numerical ability and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Software Competency: Proficient in standard estimation and measurement software, as well as Microsoft Excel.
