Sterling Recruitment Services are currently looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to join our client based in Trimdon, County Durham. Projects with our client vary in size and complexity for small rapid projects with a six-month sales cycle of typical values of less than £100K to large long-term projects which can run for many years with typical values of between £1M to £6M. Our client has a small in-house engineering team which is supported by a much larger team located predominately in their head office in Finland but also at offices in Malaysia, Poland and the US. They therefore seek a project engineer who is comfortable bringing together and managing multi-functional teams that are in different geographical locations. Person Specification An excellent work ethic and the desire to support continual improvement activities. Methodical approach with great attention to detail. Can guide and motivate Project Team members. Good problem-solving abilities and analytical skill set. Great communication skills, both verbally and through e-mail, Microsoft Teams, etc. Able to interface with key stakeholders both internally and externally. I.T skills are essential and as well previous experience using ERP systems. Ability to calculate levels of risk within projects. Engineering experience is essential. Experience working in the rail or bus industries would be an advantage. Able to travel occasionally, mainly in the UK. Responsibilities Management of projects throughout the complete project life cycles * Manage all projects within M-Files/Gateway project management model. * Working with project owners (typically sales) to understand the customer requirements. * Assessment of scope and feasibility of manufacture. * Working with the customer to understand and manage technical requirements. * Coordinating expertise from multiple functions; mechanical, electrical, electronic and software engineering, quality, production and commercial. * Creation of sourcing projects within projects for materials and tooling as required. * Creation of project cost calculations during tender phase. * Production and management of required customer documentation including, but not limited to, detailed clause by clause responses to customer specifications, project plans, project technical descriptions. * Presenting information to internal and external stakeholders. * Execution phase * Initiating and leading project kick off meetings with relevant personnel. * Drive projects from the front line, being across the detail of all aspects of each project. * Working closely with all stakeholders to ensure project plans are adhered to. * Assessing risks and opportunities against project plan to enable advance warning of issues and plan mitigation strategies with the wider team. * Attending routine meetings with the customer as needed for each project. * Leading/attending internal daily project review meetings, fostering collaboration and coordination among project teams. * Along with project owners become a primary point of contact with Customers for project related queries. * Delivery phase * Assist production where required with any issues. * Remain one of the primary points of contact with the customer for: * Technical enquiries * Contract variations * Engineering change * Obsolescence issues etc Qualifications * Project management qualifications or relevant experience are a must. * Engineering qualifications are (mech/elec) are preferred.
