Sterling Recruitment Services are looking to recruit a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our clients growing business based in Middlesbrough.

Overall, Purpose of job:
To assist in managing the costs on construction projects and ensure that the construction project is completed within its projected budget and as economically as possible.
1.Primary responsibility is to carry out their duties in such a way that there is no risks to the health and safety of anyone on site or off site.
2.To assist in preparation of Tender Documents, Contracts and Sub-Contracts, Appointment and Sub-Appointment documents, Bills of Quantities, other Contract and Sub-Contract documentation
3.To price and forecast the project costs and report periodically in writing, on the financial status of the individual projects including cash flow forecasting
4.To support design team to track changes to the design and or construction work and recoup income from the client along with managing (adjusting) the project costs and sub-contractors
5.To assist in procuring the services of Sub-Contractors and Professionals
6.To measure and value the Works done on site / factory / Design for the; calculation of the external application for payment from the Client, and to compute the recommendation for payment for the Sub-Contractors and Professionals applications for payment, and for the computation of the cost to complete for the project.
7.Liaise with the Client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers, engineers, designers
8.Ensuring the company on site processes are carried out
9.Reporting and documenting of all site based processes and events
10.Representing the group of companies and always protecting the organization interests.
Required Skills
Experience within a commercial setting.
Basic Knowledge of JCT and NEC Contracts
A good working knowledge of MS Excel and the ability to learn how to use specialist software
Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills
The ability to work in a team
The ability to negotiate, persuade and motivate others
Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

To assist in the overall responsibility for the financial performance of the Construction Project
Ensuring that applications for payment are made timeously.
Ensuring that the sub-contractors applications are processed timeously.
Ensure variations are captured and actioned and priced
Evaluate contract and sub-contract conditions of contract
Procure the services and sub-contract works for the construction project.
Review, comment and negotiate favourable Contract and Sub-Contract conditions
Analyse the Budget and compile into the Construction Phase Interim Valuation format
Compile Tenders for the Services and sub-contract works for the project
Project launches
Assist with utilities applications
Attendance to site when required
