Senior Occupational Therapist in London

Sterling Practice is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join our growing multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior clinical role across both clinic and school-based settings, supporting children and young people with a range of complex needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

This role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to take a senior clinical position within a supportive multidisciplinary team. You will manage a complex paediatric caseload across clinic, school and community settings, providing specialist assessment, evidence-based intervention and clinical leadership to ensure the highest standards of care.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in supporting the development of the service through clinical supervision, mentoring and quality improvement initiatives. Working closely with the Clinical Director and wider multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to service development, promote best practice and support the professional growth of junior colleagues. You will build strong collaborative relationships with families, schools and external professionals to help children and young people achieve meaningful outcomes, maximise their independence and participate fully in everyday life.

Job responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive assessments and therapy interventions for a diverse paediatric caseload within the clinic setting.
• Develop and implement individualised treatment plans based on clinical need and evidence-based practice.
• Produce high-quality clinical reports, recommendations and outcome measures.
• Support children and young people presenting with a wide range of developmental, sensory, communication and neurodevelopmental needs.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers and other professionals involved in the child's care.
• Provide clinical supervision, guidance and support to junior therapists.
• Assist with the induction, mentoring and professional development of newly qualified and junior clinicians.
• Support the Clinical Director and management team with day-to-day clinic operations and service development initiatives.
• Contribute to maintaining high clinical standards, governance requirements and best practice across the team.
• Participate in multidisciplinary discussions, case reviews and team meetings.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and professional standards.

Qualifications:

Essential: The successful candidate will hold a recognised degree in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration, with a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience working within paediatrics. They will have demonstrable experience in undertaking paediatric assessments and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and young people with a range of developmental and neurodevelopmental needs. They will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling them to produce high-quality clinical reports and build effective relationships with children, families, schools and multidisciplinary professionals. The post holder will be confident in supervising, supporting and mentoring junior colleagues, while demonstrating strong organisational and time management skills. They will be able to work independently, managing a varied and complex caseload, whilst contributing positively and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable: Experience supervising students, therapy assistants or junior Occupational Therapists, as well as working with children with neurodevelopmental conditions, sensory processing differences and communication difficulties. A good understanding of the EHCP process, additional postgraduate training relevant to paediatric practice, and previous leadership or management experience within a clinical setting would be advantageous. Sensory Integration (SI) training is desirable; however, full training and support will be provided for candidates who are not yet SI qualified.

Experience:

Essential: Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience within paediatrics experience carrying out paediatric assessments and delivering therapeutic interventions.
