We are looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to join our Day Shift team in Cramlington. Within this role, you will be responsible for executing on-site maintenance tasks, including E&I repairs, modifications, plant upgrades, installations and commissioning, ensuring all equipment complies with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the Sterling lockout/tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Carry out electrical and instrument repairs, modifications, plant upgrades, installation, and commissioning.
  • Calibration and function testing of instrumented loops including valves, level, temperature, flow & pressure instruments.
  • Conduct hazardous area inspections and repairs ensuring all hazardous area equipment complies with statutory requirements and the appropriate British Standards are maintained.
  • Problem-solve and perform diagnostic checks on electrical and instrument systems, recommending changes and improvements to the area E&I assistant engineer.
  • Read and interpret instrument loop and schematic drawings.
  • Medium and Low voltage installations and general electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications in one of the core disciplines is essential.
  • Having a COMPex certificate is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Previous experience within the chemical industry is desirable, but not essential.
  • Capable of prioritising tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
  • Must be adept at problem-solving in a methodical manner and have good fault-finding skills.
  • Should demonstrate the ability to respond appropriately to situations with the necessary level of urgency.
  • General understanding of 4-20 mA & 3-15 PSI instrument control.
  • Preferred to have relevant prior experience in identifying and eliminating root causes.
