As the Shift Analytical Chemist, you will be responsible for supporting the analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, intermediates and final product. The Shift Analytical Chemist is a specialist role working in a site based analytical team supporting the wider quality department to ensure compliance to the site quality and safety procedures. You will be actively involved in the day-to-day activities of the analytical lab, managing the calibration status of equipment, supporting technical analytical discussions, investigations into analytical observations, deviations and out of specification results, and providing troubleshooting support and guidance. This role operates on a 12-hour shift pattern, consisting of 2 days, 2 nights and 6 off and you will be based at our site in Cramlington, Northumberland.
Responsibilities
- Prioritising raw materials, purified water, in-process samples, intermediates and final product analysis out of hours.
- Performing analysis and report results in accordance with cGMP requirements for laboratory operations.
- Investigating and reviewing analytical observations, deviations and out of specification results, and contributing to their root cause resolution.
- Performing routine audits of laboratory areas.
- Supporting with technical analytical transfers between internal and external customers.
- Supporting the calibration and maintenance schedule of analytical equipment to meet cGMP and operational requirements.
- Performing cGMP review and analytical approval of materials.
Qualifications
- Formal qualification in chemistry or other scientific discipline.
- Previous experience within an analytical laboratory-based role.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of analytical chemistry procedures.
- A positive, willing and reliable attitude, providing good customer service to internal and external customers.
- Ability to deliver hands-on operational work with some complexity that supports wider business needs.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
