Hours: 30 hours, 4 over 7 days (weekend availability)

The role:
As a Catering Assistant, you\’ll support daily operations and deliver exceptional guest experiences, working under the guidance of the Café Manager, Supervisors, and an experienced catering team. Your tasks will include preparing display counters, assisting in simple food preparation, and maintaining food safety and cleanliness.
Being adaptable and proactive is essential to ensure smooth service and a positive customer experience. Your commitment to hygiene and standards will be vital to our success.
About you:
You excel in customer interactions, bringing friendliness and positivity to a fast-paced environment. You take pride in your work, enjoy varied tasks, and thrive as a team player. Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene is required, and previous customer service experience in catering or retail is desirable.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure are crucial. Numerical literacy is also important for handling transactions and inventory tasks. Above all, you possess natural people skills and aim to deliver memorable service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service, including taking orders, serving, and answering inquiries
- Maintain a welcoming atmosphere and ensure café cleanliness
- Assist with food preparation, serving, and presentation
- Handle transactions accurately, manage cash register, and balance cash drawers
- Monitor and restock inventory, rotate stock to minimize waste
- Adhere to hygiene standards, food safety regulations, and safety systems
- Collaborate with staff, support new team members, and communicate issues to the Supervisor
- Contribute to a positive work environment and uphold Sterling\’s brand integrity
- Undertake additional duties as needed, promoting accountability and continuous improvement
