Overview
A leading Somerset elective care hospital is now seeking a Theatre Nurse (RN Adult) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with scrub experience to join the team. The hospital, rated \”Good\” in each category by the CQC, is a long-time valued partner of the NHS and plays an active role in the delivery of planned health services for NHS, self-funded and insured patients from each corner of the South West. The team supports patients with a host of diverse health and treatment needs—from ophthalmic and ENT procedures down to orthopaedic surgeries for the feet and ankles—aided by state-of-the-art, on-site diagnostic imaging services.
As a Scrub Practitioner, you will support a wide range of surgeries within an acutely modern theatre environment. You\’ll join a strong MDT who all endeavour to provide the highest quality of pre-, peri- and post-operative care, whether for a day case procedure or for a longer and more complex surgery, to foster the best possible patient outcomes.

This is a permanent, full-time role, working 37.5h over 4 days. There will be no nights, Sundays or on-call required.
Responsibilities
- Provide scrub support across a wide range of surgeries within a modern theatre environment.
- Collaborate with the MDT to deliver high-quality pre-, peri- and post-operative care.
- Support day case procedures and longer, more complex surgeries to optimise patient outcomes.
Person specification
- Essential – Registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse (Adult) or with the HCPC as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
- Essential – Previous experience as a Scrub Practitioner at NHS Band 5 level or higher.
- Essential – Previous experience scrubbing across a range of specialties including General Surgery.
- Desirable – Orthopaedic Scrub experience.
