Overview
A highly-rated local care home is now seeking a Second Chef to join their culinary team.
As a member of a leading luxury care group, the mission is to ensure residents always have a truly exceptional home living experience β which means top-tier hospitality (fine dining included) is a must-have, to better complement excellent healthcare support.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Cover 10h shifts with no night shifts and no split-shifts.
- Only be dealing with fresh, seasonal ingredients (no microwave meals).
- Have the freedom to get creative in a modern, high-spec and well-equipped kitchen.
- Have the opportunity to influence nutritious new menus and hone your culinary expertise.
Your role will be all about assisting the Head Chef in creating flavoursome and well-balanced dishes, while working with residents to tailor menus around them.
This is your chance to prepare food to hotel/restaurant standards and grow within the profession without the split days and long weeks.
Position
This would be a permanent position for a Second Chef, full-time (40h per week).

Person specification
- Hold City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent professional qualification
- Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
- Good understanding of nutrition
- Good understanding of HACCP
- Able to create a warm and welcoming environment within the home
- Personable approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
- Confident in engaging with residents to create appetising menus
- Previous care home experience would be beneficial but is not required
