Role: 3rd Line Engineer

Location: Southampton (Hybrid)

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Senior Engineering Role | Cloud, Infrastructure & Security | Real Technical Authority

We are working with a high-performing technology business in Southampton that has built a reputation for doing engineering the right way - modern platforms, strong technical standards, and zero tolerance for stagnation. They are now looking for a 3rd Line Engineer to join their senior technical tier and take ownership of complex environments and projects.

This is a role for engineers who want to go deep. You will lead on escalations, design and deliver infrastructure and cloud solutions, and work closely with other senior engineers on Azure, virtualisation, networking, security, and automation. You won’t be babysitting tickets - you’ll be solving real problems, shaping systems, and mentoring others.

If you’re already operating at 3rd Line and want more influence, or you’re a strong 2nd Line engineer who’s clearly outgrown your current role - this is the step that levels you up properly.

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience in 3rd Line or senior escalation roles
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365 & Active Directory
  • Hands-on experience with Azure & cloud infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of virtualisation (Hyper-V / VMware)
  • Solid networking knowledge - firewalls, switching, VPNs, security
  • Confident leading incidents, projects, and technical decisions
  • Clear communicator and trusted technical authority

Exclusive Benefits:

  • £45,000 - £50,000 Salary
  • Hybrid working - flexibility around Southampton office
  • Operate as part of a senior technical team, not a support desk
  • Lead cloud, infrastructure & security projects end-to-end
  • Clear progression into: Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud / Solutions Architect, Technical Lead / Head of Engineering
  • Fully funded certifications - Azure, Microsoft, Security
  • Private Medical Cover & Sick Pay
  • 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
  • High-trust culture with real autonomy
  • Regular tech workshops, planning sessions & team socials
