About Us

At Steris we are the technological leader in design, production, and supply of sterilization test equipment and monitoring systems. We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Operator vacancy.

What's Involved

  • To accept goods into stores, control the stock and its location and issue as required in accordance with the Company procedures and under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager and Warehouse Supervisor.
  • To mentor and train new employees to the required standard in line with Company Procedures.
  • To pack for safe transport, or as specified in the procedures, all goods as directed including the handling and packing of dangerous goods in accordance with ADR/IMDG Dangerous Goods Regulations.
  • To drive the company van and fork lift trucks as directed.
  • To ensure that the work place is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Be aware of the requirements of the organisation’s Quality Assurance systems and take responsibility for all its obligations updating any out of date, incorrect or ineffectual processes by the correct means.
  • To represent the Company image as being one of high integrity at all times when representing the Company both internally and externally and behave in a manner both on and off duty befitting the Company image and standards.
  • To undertake training / personal development to enable competent performance of all relevant tasks.
  • Any other duties which can reasonably be expected of the post holder given their knowledge, skills and experience.
  • This position requires flexibility with the ability to adapt quickly to a changing warehouse environment and to transfer into production to assist in noncore functions as instructed.
  • Warehouse conditions working, appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required to be worn (PPE provided includes Hi Viz clothing and safety shoes).
  • Manual Handling (training to be provided).

Required Education And Experience

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent or be able to demonstrate working at this level.
  • Accuracy/Attention to detail and a team player.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach.
  • Be a good communicator and have an effective and personable telephone manner.
  • Be computer literate; experience using Microsoft packages (inc. Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • To hold a valid clean Driving Licence.
  • A forklift truck licence.
  • REACH licence preferred or must be willing to undergo training.
  • To hold a ADR/IMDG Dangerous Goods Regulation Certificate although not essential as training will be provided.
  • The post holder would be expected to demonstrate effective problem-solving skills related to general warehousing tasks.
