At STERIS we are the technological leader in design, production, and supply of sterilization equipment and monitoring systems. We are currently recruiting for a Machine/Production Operative.
What Is Involved
- Operate production machinery to manufacture the business’s range of products across a range of machinery including cartoning machinery, guillotines, flow wrapping machinery, strip bottle machine, rotary guillotine, label printer, dispensing equipment, saturating machinery, and any new machinery required by the business.
- Carry out manual packing and boxing activities.
- Perform and document product inspection.
- Carry out 6S and keep the workplace clean and tidy.
- Use mechanical aids such as manual and powered pallet trucks safely.
- Understand the requirements of the organisation’s Quality Assurance systems specific to the role and take responsibility for all obligations, updating any out of date, incorrect or ineffective processes by the correct means.
- Undertake training and personal development to enable competent performance of all relevant tasks.
- Deputise for the supervisor when requested.
- Provide support across the production departments when requested, based on business and production requirements.
- Support all established lean objectives and participate in lean activities as necessary.
- Train co-workers to the required standard.
- Represent the company image with high integrity when representing the company both internally and externally.
Required Experience
- Production machine operation experience.
- GCSE standard or equivalent, or minimum of one year’s experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work within health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to operate machinery once trained.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks at pace to achieve targets.
- Ability to read, understand and complete quality documentation.
- Initiative and a proactive approach.
