At STERIS Instrument Processing, we are experts in surgical instrument sterilisation, offering on‑ and off‑site re‑processing alongside reliable instrument maintenance solutions. Our diverse and talented teams use cutting‑edge technology to ensure the highest quality of infection prevention is delivered to our customers.

What You Will Do

  • Follow a highly regulated end‑to‑end sterilisation/decontamination process on surgical instruments that have been used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals, ensuring they can be used again safely for the next patient.
  • Ensure the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection, assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • Rigorously check, wash, lay up and pack sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • Safely operate and monitor machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
  • Ensure that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
  • Ensure that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Working Pattern

12‑week training, the first few weeks will be Monday‑Friday 10:00‑18:00. Thereafter, training will continue during regular shift hours Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 16:00‑05:00 (37.5 hours) – 30 min unpaid break.

Required Experience

  • Educated on general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
  • Basic end‑user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT systems.
