We are currently recruiting for a Business Intelligence Developer vacancy. This is an excellent opportunity to join us at a skilled level in a division that drives the business forwards through developing and implementing innovative solutions to stakeholder requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Senior Data Analyst/Developer takes a leading role in guiding the data analysis process, mentoring other analysts within the STERIS BIA Team and collaborating with stakeholders to understand business objectives. The Analyst’s expertise in data modelling, statistical analysis and data visualisation is critical in driving strategic initiatives and recommending data-driven solutions. The position requires a proven track record of delivering high-impact insights to contribute significantly to STERIS’s success.

  • Business Requirements: As a senior member, play a pivotal role in driving business requirement identification and alignment with STERIS’s overall strategic vision, collaborating with key stakeholders to shape data projects' direction. (30%)
  • Data Analysis and Profiling: Conduct data analysis, utilising best practices and proven methodologies to uncover critical insights and trends that drive key business decisions. Performs data profiling to gain an understanding of source data content, meaning and quality to support user requirements (10%)
  • Data Modelling and Visualisation: Establish data modelling strategies and lead the creation of sophisticated visualisations, crafting meaningful data representations that enable stakeholders to make data-driven decisions. (10%)
  • SDLC Methodology & Project Management: Conduct and/or coordinate complex data projects with precision, leveraging knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and adept project management skills. (5%)
  • Support & Operations: As a subject matter expert, provides expert guidance and proactive management for data-related operations and support services, ensuring the stability and high performance of data systems and processes. (5%)
  • Data Governance and Data Quality: Championing data governance practices in his/her areas of responsibility, set and enforce high standards, overseeing data quality assurance to maintain data integrity across STERIS. (5%)
  • Metadata Management & Documentation: Directly participates or provides oversight for metadata management initiatives and activities, ensuring comprehensive documentation, and fostering an environment of clarity and understanding for all data assets. (10%)
  • End-User Support, Education and Enablement: Develop and deliver comprehensive end-user support, education, and enablement initiatives, mentoring stakeholders to optimise their utilisation of data tools and insights. (5%)
  • Innovation, Continuous Improvement & Optimization: Drive innovation within the team, continuously optimising processes, and integrating new technologies to improve efficiency and quality of data-related products and services. (10%)
  • Partnership and Community Building: Actively forge strategic partnerships within the BIA team, with other I&T teams and the wider group of data managers and consumers, fostering a collaborative data community that thrives on mutual support, knowledge-sharing, and collective growth. Examples include user group meetings, team workshops, knowledge sharing initiatives and good quality admin & documentation platforms (10%)

Required Experience

  • Strong knowledge and experience in reporting, BI and data visualisation tools, preferably Tableau
  • Has knowledge and experience using a variety of data modelling, visualisation designs and techniques, and can coach peers and customers on their use
  • Knowledge and experience with data profiling and data quality assessment to understand source systems’ data structure and content, and validate data quality
  • Strong SQL knowledge and experience (including analytical functions and procedural code development)
  • Python and R (desired)
  • Knowledge and experience with different SDLC methodologies, Agile project management and DevOps
  • Knowledge and experience with connecting, extracting and modelling from a variety of data source types (structured, semi-structured, and unstructured) and from a variety of systems (relational DBMS, enterprise applications, flat files, Excel files, JSON, XML, multi-dimensional schemas, 3NF schemas, BI application Testing – unit, integration, end-to-end)
  • Understanding of security, privacy and ethics requirements and protocols applicable to work products and services in scope of work
  • Knowledge and experience implementing data access security models in BI tools (role-based access, row-based rules, security groups, security filters)
