Senior Data Analyst/Developer in STERIS BIA team leads the data analysis process, mentors analysts, and collaborates with stakeholders to understand business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Business Requirements: play a pivotal role in identifying business requirements and aligning them with STERIS’s overall strategic vision (30%).
- Data Analysis and Profiling: conduct data analysis using best practices to uncover critical insights and trends; perform data profiling to understand source data content, meaning, and quality.
- Data Modelling and Visualisation: establish data modelling strategies and lead creation of sophisticated visualisations to enable stakeholders to make data‑driven decisions.
- SDLC Methodology & Project Management: conduct and coordinate complex data projects leveraging SDLC methodologies and project management skills.
- Support & Operations: provide expert guidance and proactive management for data‑related operations and support services to ensure stability and high performance of data systems.
- Data Governance and Data Quality: champion data governance practices, enforce high standards, and oversee data quality assurance to maintain data integrity.
- Metadata Management & Documentation: participate in or oversee metadata management initiatives, ensuring comprehensive documentation and clarity for all data assets.
- End‑User Support, Education and Enablement: develop and deliver comprehensive end‑user support, education, and enablement initiatives, mentoring stakeholders to optimize use of data tools and insights.
- Innovation, Continuous Improvement & Optimization: drive innovation within the team, continuously optimise processes, and integrate new technologies to improve efficiency and quality.
- Partnership and Community Building: forge strategic partnerships within the BIA team, other IT teams, and the wider group of data managers and consumers, fostering a collaborative data community.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and experience in reporting, BI and data visualisation tools (preferably Tableau).
- Experience with data modelling, visualisation designs and techniques, and ability to coach peers.
- Experience with data profiling and data quality assessment.
- Strong SQL knowledge with analytical functions and procedural code development.
- Python and R (desired).
- Experience with SDLC methodologies, Agile project management, and DevOps.
- Experience connecting, extracting and modelling from various data sources (structured, semi‑structured, unstructured).
- BI application testing: unit, integration, end‑to‑end.
- Understanding of security, privacy and ethics requirements applicable to products and services.
- Experience implementing data access security models in BI tools.
