About Us:

At Steris AST we are the trusted experts in neutral sterilization offering includes radiation and gas technologies.

We offer electron beam, gamma, X-ray, ethylene oxide and vaporized hydrogen peroxide technologies for the purpose of product sterilization. Whether that product be a single use medical instrument, a hospital environment, cosmetics and toiletries, or food products, we make sure that everything that makes its way to an end user is safe for use or consumption.

We are currently recruiting for a Team Leader vacancy.

20:00-08:00

What is involved

Health & Safety

Report safety concerns and escalate to the appropriate safety representative.

Support and sponsor the site usage of PPE

Conduct and report safety checks regularly.

Ensure all tasks are conducted with safety and environmental awareness.

Continuously monitor the work area for safety, taking immediate corrective action when necessary.

People, Culture and Leadership

Lead and motivate the team whilst performing operator duties.

Deputise for the Operations Supervisor when required.

Assist with the deployment of training

Support entry level man management functions such as RTWs

Provide consistent on-the-job feedback from your team.

To help create and maintain a proactive culture where team members are empowered to deliver the company values of TEAMWORK, PEOPLE, INNOVATION, INTEGRITY and ACCOUNTABILITY.

To drive the culture of OTOG through site team building days/days out.

Act as a representative and be a constructive voice for your peers

Act as a proactive leader within the team.

Collaborate with the Operations Supervisor to identify issues, resource needs, and improvement opportunities, offering solutions.

Support the monitoring of employee performance, provide mentoring, and proactive corrective actions as necessary.

Participate in workshops/groups with the Operations Supervisor

Maintain high morale and drive engagement within the team

.

Quality

Oversee the physical quarantine process in accordance with procedures.

Ensure Non-Conformance forms meet required standards.

Promptly report process or job-related issues to the Operations Supervisor.

Maintain strict product segregation and adherence to Site GMP Quality Standards.

Assist in Non-Conformance investigations and root cause analysis.

Ensure all damage is contained and reported following site procedures.

Cost

Support the recording of processing times, changeovers, and plant downtime.

Monitor and manage consumable stock levels.

Proactively contact support services (Maintenance, IT, QA) during plant faults, especially during silent hours.

Take initiative to resolve labour shortages and support schedule adherence.

Delivery

Identify, verify, and label customer products, ensuring correct dosimeters/BIs placement per SOPs.

Conduct daily handovers, maintaining accurate records and standards.

Uphold and enhance Site 5S Standards, conducting regular audits and follow-up actions.

Complete standard work tasks as required (daily, weekly, monthly).

Supervise end-of-shift cleaning and complete the cleaning register.

Track and manage consumable stock, notifying management when reorder levels are reached.

Perform any additional tasks as reasonably required by Site Management.

Perform basic frontline maintenance repairs.

Has excellent on the floor technical expertise across all modulators

KPIs

In the absence of the Operations Supervisor, lead the daily PIT meetings and Plant SQDC boards updates.

To monitor and communicate schedule adherence

Support the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives/activities within the department

Help deliver 5S audit counter measures

Participate in site kaizen activities, GEMBA walks and continuous improvement tasks for the department

On-Call

Working hours will be agreed locally and align with the operational requirements of the business.

May be required to support on-call duties agreed as part of local site operational requirements.

Required Experience

Minimum of 3 (Three) years professional experience working in a highly regulated operations environment

Experience in similar operational role in a manufacturing business (production unit or plant).

Strong experience in leading teams within a manufacturing environment.

Ability to train, develop and mentor employees.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficient with MS Office suite
