About You

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Following a highly regulated end to end sterilization/decontamination process on surgical instruments that have been used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals, to ensure they can be used again safely for the next patient.
- Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
- Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
- Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
- Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
- Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trustβs appointed person.
TRAINING AND WORKING PATTERN
12 weeks training, the first few weeks you will work on Monday-Friday at 9:00-17:00. Thereafter, training will continue during your regular shift hours which are Monday to Friday 22:00 to 06:00.

Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career!
Required Experience
- Educated on good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
- Basic end-user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT systems.
- Whether you have no experience whatsoever, or you have previously worked in the healthcare industry, we want to hear from you!
