Training and Working Pattern
This is a Night shift role. 12 weeks training, the first few weeks you will work on Monday-Friday at 9:00-17:00. Thereafter, training will continue during your regular shift hours which are full-time, 37.5 hrs per week on rota basis:
- Wednesday: 20:30-07:00
- Thursday: 21:00-07:00
- Friday: 21:00-07:00
- Saturday: 21:00-07:00
What Is Involved
- Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
- Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
- Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
- Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
- Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust's appointed person.

- Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship! This is a 12-15 month fully funded programme studying good scientific practice for the Healthcare profession! It is universally applicable outside of STERIS! Completed on the job, you are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career!
