About Us: At STERIS we are the technological leader in design, production, and supply of sterilization equipment and monitoring systems. We are currently recruiting for a Machine/ Production Operative. The role requires the completion of all production tasks including, but not limited to, inspection, packing, boxing, labelling and the operation of production machinery. The post holder will be responsible for manufacturing the products in accordance with the standard work procedures and completing manufacturing documents. This position requires employees to rotate weekly on a 6:00-14:00 & 14:00-22:00 shifts, Monday – Friday.

What's involved:

  • Operate production machinery to produce the businesses range of products on a range of machinery.
  • Carry out all manual packing/boxing activities.
  • Perform and document product inspection.
  • Perform safety checks on forklift trucks.
  • Weekly rotation on manufacturing machinery.
  • Use the company ERP system to perform stock transactions.
  • Carry out 5S and ensure that the workplace is always kept clean and tidy.
  • Safely use mechanical aids such as manual and powered pallet trucks.
  • Understand the requirements of the organisation’s Quality Assurance systems that are specific to the role and take responsibility for all its obligations updating any out of date, incorrect or ineffectual processes by the correct means.
  • Undertake training / personal development to enable competent performance of all relevant tasks.
  • Deputise for their supervisor when requested to do so.
  • Provide support across the production departments when requested to do so, based on business and production requirements.
  • Support all established lean objectives and participate in lean activities as necessary to support business goals.
  • Undertake training in various manufacturing processes in order to demonstrate the required level of competency and to train co-workers to the required standard.
  • Represent the Company image as being one of high integrity at all times when representing the Company both internally and externally and behave in a manner both on and off duty befitting the Company image and standards.

Required experience:

  • To be educated to a GCSE standard.
  • 2 years’ experience in Machine operation.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision (self-starter).
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Requires the ability to work within health and safety guidelines as laid out by the management.
  • Ability to operate machinery once trained.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks at pace to achieve targets.
  • The ability to read, understand and complete quality documentation.
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach.
