Position Purpose: Develop and execute a centralized program for plant and facility improvement, plant management, and engineering support across the international region as directed. Key functions of this role are planning and implementing large capital projects in plants, assisting in Facility management and supporting the REFCO (Real Estate and Facility Committee), executing standards for process, equipment, and maintenance within plants across the organization. Also manages the asset protection and reliability of plant equipment. This position may supervise other Supervisors and Technicians.

Key Job Activities:

  • Project Management of Plant Improvements: Responsible for leading and implementing all large-scale capital improvements or new build outs of plants within Stericycle. This involves partnering with the local operations team, regulatory and compliance and outside partners to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and to designed specifications. Develop Project plans, assign tasks to resources, and communication plans to ensure those affected by projects are informed and updated.
  • REFCO Management: Support business case modelling, analyse and make recommendations on project feasibility studies to identify the most cost-effective alternative.
  • Implementing standard processes & plant analytics: Work with operations and engineering to develop, implement, and monitor standard metrics, dashboards, processes and approaches within the plant environment. Standardize around proactive maintenance schedules, spare parts inventories and replacement lifecycles. Implement regular reporting surrounding equipment health, expected replacement costs and timelines, ongoing maintenance cost expectations and spare parts inventories.
  • Support operations: Work with Corporate PE, Operations, Engineering, and Sourcing to specify, source and standardize equipment and layout standards within the plant environment. Support operations with engineering solutions for safety or operations related problems in the plant environment. Support of permit submissions and regulatory requirements in corporation with EHS or cross-functional.
  • Investigate: Conduct root cause analysis, plant down-time and support the operation to instigate suitable remedial action plans to prevent reoccurrence of issues.
  • Coaching: Coach Technicians and Supervisors & share best practices with Plant Managers; provide ongoing feedback, support to improve productivity, identify opportunities to support the operation for operational efficiency.

Education: Experience (EMEAA): Education equivalent College, High School or University Degree with emphasis in Business Management, Finance, Operations Management, Project Management or Engineering, or the equivalent in related work experience. Management experience in a related industry with a proven ability to remote teams as well as a track record of implementing strategic projects in a cross-functional manner. Demonstrates sound regulatory knowledge as they apply to the waste, healthcare and service industries. Demonstrates the ability to work with internal stakeholders to improve or change situations using broad knowledge and expertise. Collaborates on identifying needs/problems and/or developing action plans to support customer business objectives. Demonstrates the ability to remotely lead team members through a changing environment and achieve challenging financial targets. Demonstrates strong project management/organizational skills and is strategic in determining the appropriate priorities. Demonstrates strong financial acumen in managing multiple large-scale projects. Demonstrates the ability to make sound and thorough decisions after reviewing the facts, incorporating perspectives of others, applying technical knowledge, past experience, and incorporating company policy.
