As a nationally recognised, multi‑award‑winning residential centre for neurological and complex trauma rehabilitation, we welcome individuals aged 16 and over from across the UK and beyond. Main duties of the job:

  • Assess, implement and monitor individual rehabilitation plans for our clients.
  • Involve clients and carers in the development and delivery and accurate recording of goals within the rehabilitation plan.
  • Accurate recording and monitoring of outcome measures.
  • Play an active part in client review meetings, including completing reports to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • Be involved as a key worker for nominated clients.
  • Provide clinical leadership, support and guidance to other STEPS team members.
  • Act upon and escalate issues as required following STEPS guidance and operating procedures.
  • Be compliant with clinical governance requirements operating within STEPS procedures.
  • Be involved in clinical audits as and when directed.
  • Contribute and lead on specific projects related to service delivery e.g. quality programmes, education and training and contributing to the setting and monitoring of practice standards.
  • In conjunction with the wider interdisciplinary team ensure personal care and nutritional needs of clients are met, dealing with emergencies as required.
  • Undertake duties and responsibilities as defined in the work plan.

Person Specification

Skills & Attributes – Essential:

  • Creative and innovative approach, inclusive and engaging approach to client rehabilitation and care.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and excellent listening skills.
  • Able to form key working relationships with colleagues, understand the dynamics of interdisciplinary working.
  • Always demonstrate the STEPS core values through all elements of your role.
  • Demonstrate awareness of equality and diversity obligations when delivering care and towards colleagues.

Qualifications – Essential:

  • Registered with the HCPC.
  • Degree level qualification in Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of postgraduate courses / qualifications within a related speciality.
  • Qualification / short courses in staff management / supervision.

Qualifications – Desirable:

  • Membership of CSP and relevant special interest groups.
  • Key trainer / train the trainer qualification.
  • Leadership, mentorship or supervisory course.
  • Clinical Educators Course.

Experience – Essential:

  • Experience of working in different areas of rehabilitation to include at least two of the following specialities: Complex trauma rehabilitation, spinal injury rehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation.
  • IT experience including Microsoft Office packages.
  • Experience of working within governance frameworks e.g. clinical systems, data management, complaints and untoward incidents.
  • Demonstrable experience and working knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
  • Supervising and supporting junior staff members.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience of writing medical reports.

Experience – Desirable:

  • Specialist rehabilitation experience in functional neurological disorders and other uncommon neurological presentations.
  • Experience in delivering aquatic therapy.
  • Experience in vestibular assessment.
  • Experience in respiratory rehabilitation.
  • Experience in tracheostomy care and weaning.
  • Experience of training package development and delivery across relevant subject e.g. Data Protection / Clinical Training.
  • Experience of working in an interdisciplinary team within an acute or specialist rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience of working in a private medical setting.
  • Experience of writing medico‑legal reports.
  • Experience of audit functions.
