Stepping Stones Swimming is one of the premier private learn to swim providers in Scotland, renowned for our high quality, low ratio swimming lessons for children. We are seeking a dedicated Venue Lead – Swimming Teacher to join our Midlothian & East Lothian team, someone who can lead by example and help ensure the smooth day to day delivery of our swim programme across the region. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching, confident managing teams, and capable of maintaining the high standards expected across the Stepping Stones programme.

Current Available Hours – Midlothian & East Lothian

  • Approximately 25 hours per week across the following delivery periods:
  • Sunday delivery
  • Monday to Friday afternoon and evening delivery

There is also the opportunity to increase hours over time through additional permanent delivery, venue lead support, or lesson cover opportunities across the wider programme.

Role Overview

As part of the Venue Lead – Swimming Teacher role, you will continue to deliver high quality swimming lessons whilst also acting as the eyes and ears on the ground within the venue. You will help oversee the smooth running of lessons, support teaching staff, and maintain strong communication between the teaching team, venue staff, and Stepping Stones office team.

This role includes:

  • Delivering high quality swimming lessons
  • Supporting and mentoring newly qualified teachers
  • Assisting with customer feedback and day to day problem solving
  • Monitoring swimmer progression and class standards
  • Assessing swimmer class levels where required
  • Supporting venue setup and lesson operations
  • Maintaining positive relationships with facility staff and management teams

The role is a mixture of in water delivery and wider operational support across the programme.

Main Duties

  • Oversee the delivery and progression of swimmers within the programme
  • Support and mentor newly qualified teachers
  • Assist with customer feedback and issue resolution
  • Monitor lesson quality and swimmer progression
  • Support communication between teaching teams and office staff
  • Maintain strong relationships with venue staff and management
  • Attend monthly training and development days at Stepping Stones Head Office (EH21 8RX)

Qualifications

Essential:
  • National Governing Body Swimming Teacher Qualification
  • SSTQ | STA | ASA | UKCC equivalent
  • Proven experience within a swimming lesson environment
  • NRASTC, STA Safety Award or NPLQ qualification
Additional Requirements:
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Ability to travel between Midlothian & East Lothian venues where required
