Be the difference through the night. At Stepping Stone Projects, we don’t just provide accommodation—we help people rebuild their lives. As a growing North West charity, we support individuals and families to move from crisis to stability, empowering them to secure and sustain a place they can truly call home. We’re now looking for 2 x Concierge Officers to join our dedicated team in Rochdale, supporting our temporary accommodation services.
About the role:
Working overnight, you’ll be the reassuring presence that keeps our schemes safe, calm, and well‑managed. You’ll support residents with compassion and professionalism, while ensuring buildings remain secure and running smoothly. You’ll be based primarily at Whitworth Road - a supported accommodation service consisting of 14 self‑contained flats for people experiencing homelessness with a local connection to the Rochdale area. The service supports individuals with complex needs and offers a structured environment to enable successful move‑on into longer‑term accommodation.
What you’ll be doing:
- Maintaining the safety and security of our buildings using CCTV and regular patrols.
- Supporting residents with day‑to‑day queries, promoting a respectful community environment.
- Managing incidents calmly and confidently, using de‑escalation where needed.
- Keeping accurate handover logs and records.
- Preparing rooms for new residents and maintaining communal spaces.
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure consistent, high‑quality support.
About you:
You’ll be someone who brings resilience, empathy, and a practical mindset to your work. You’re confident handling challenging situations and motivated by making a real difference. We’re particularly interested if you have:
- Experience in working in any of the following fields: supported housing, housing advice work, youth and community work or work supporting homeless people.
- Experience in dealing with vulnerable people from possible problematic backgrounds.
- Experience in using computerised systems frequently, in a busy working environment.
- Ability to work with customers who have complex needs and who may be challenging to work with, and to respond to conflict situations in a calm yet firm manner.
- Versatile, flexible, and co‑operative approach to work.
- Available to provide out of hours/overnight security, safety, and emergency services on a rota over seven days.
This is more than a night role—it’s a chance to play a vital part in supporting people at a critical point in their lives. You’ll be part of a values‑driven organisation where your work has real meaning and impact every single shift.
Please note: This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check as part of our safer recruitment process.
