Contribute towards the delivery of a distinctive collection of small group tours that reflect Steppes Travel’s values and brand identity. The role combines commercial input, creative product development and operational administration to ensure our group programme delivers memorable travel experiences, supports our commitment to people and planet, and contributes significantly to company growth.
Responsibilities
- Commercial
- Costing of group tours, doing competitive analysis to ensure we are providing our clients with value for money while maintaining robust margins.
- Yield management – in conjunction with the Product & Impact Director, monitor and report on performance of the Groups portfolio including booking trends, conversion, occupancy and profitability.
- Identify opportunities for growth and new group concepts through market trends and competitor analysis.
- Maintain positive relationship with suppliers ensuring we have an SLA in place with all the DMCS we are using to deliver our group experiences.
- Manage our team of group tour leaders, keeping our database of contracts, images and biographies up to date.
- Creative
- Contribute towards the creation a coherent and inspirational collection of group tours.
- Source and develop compelling experiences, properties and tour leaders as the building blocks of the group tour collection.
- Build group tours in our database so that our sales team can sell and administrate group tours without impediment.
- Create a captivating web page for each group tour and working with the marketing team, ensure our group tours are optimised across the website.
- Operational
- Act as the main point of contact for the operation of our group tours.
- Collaborate with our suppliers to take an idea for a group tour to its conclusion as a fully formed departure ready for marketing.
- Ensure all group departures meet operational, health and safety, and quality standards.
- Maintain our database to reflect any changes or updates to group tour itineraries.
- Distribute and collate Tour Expert (tour leader) Feedback Forms (post-travel) following up on any actions required.
- Using client PTQs and Tour Expert feedback forms, give post-travel feedback to our suppliers.
Skills / experience required
- First‑hand experience of working in the high‑end travel industry, preferably with experience of group tour product development.
- An appreciation and understanding of sustainability in the context of the travel industry.
- People skills – ability to forge long-lasting relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
- Good computer literacy and a willingness to expand your knowledge.
- Copywriting and close attention to detail.
- Administration and organisational skills.
- Time management and an ability to prioritise.
- First‑hand travel experience in key Steppes destinations.
Terms and conditions
- Hours of work are 09:00 – 17:30 hours, Monday to Thursday; 09:00 – 17:00 Friday, and occasionally over weekends and evenings (e.g. if attending supplier and trade events as required).
- Paid holidays – up to 33 days (which includes 8 bank holidays).
- Up to two days a week working from home.
- Pension, private healthcare and travel insurance – contributory after a six‑month probationary period.
- Full‑time position at 37.5 hours.
