We are looking to recruit a Bid Writer, as a central member of Stepnell’s growing work-winning function. You will play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality, compelling bid submissions across the full bidding lifecycle. This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to build and strengthen our dedicated Framework Team, enhancing capability across national and regional frameworks. This role suits a creative, organised bid professional who thrives on collaboration, clarity and delivering outstanding written work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead bid and framework submissions by analysing tender requirements, creating answer plans, drafting persuasive content and managing reviews to produce high-quality, compliant final submissions.
- Coordinate bid delivery through tender portals, ensuring accurate document control, timely uploads, strong communication with clients, and smooth internal collaboration across regional teams and subject matter experts.
- Support the growth of Stepnell’s Framework Team, coaching colleagues, embedding consistent processes, contributing to knowledge bank development, and helping plan bid programmes, trackers and launch events.
- Manage multiple bids across the full pursuit lifecycle, including early preparation, bid/no-bid decisions, EOIs, PQQs, ITTs, tenders, client interactions, presentations and post-award handovers.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing feedback, participating in CPD and bid forums, enhancing processes, supporting digital innovation, and building productive relationships with consultants and supply-chain partners.
- Maintain high standards of quality and compliance through use of tender portals, Stepnell’s Knowledge Bank, branding and preconstruction processes, and publishing tools such as InDesign.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proactive, detail-focused bid professional with strong written communication skills.
- Experienced in bid writing or coordination within construction or related sectors.
- Highly organised, able to manage competing deadlines effectively.
- Confident using tender portals and familiar with procurement stages (EOI, PQQ, ITT, tender submissions).
- Skilled at working with technical experts to extract and articulate clear, compelling content.
Where You’ll Work: You’ll work from one of our regional offices: Eastleigh, Bristol, Rugby, Liverpool or Nottingham, supporting our national framework efforts.
