Step Into Teaching is looking for a dedicated and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a forward-thinking secondary school supporting students in an SEMH school.
As an HLTA, you will:
- Provide specialist support for students that will complement the professional work of teachers in the Humanities Department both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Support teaching staff by leading small group sessions or covering lessons.
- Help students build independence and actively participate in the curriculum and wider school life.
- Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
We’re seeking candidates who are enthusiastic, dynamic, and ambitious, with the skills to motivate students and work collaboratively as part of a pupil-centred team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals eager to develop their careers in education and make a meaningful impact.
The ideal graduate will:
- Predicted/Hold a degree (2:2 or above).
- Be supportive, friendly, and approachable.
- Be resilient and motivated to support and inspire students to reach their full potential and strive to achieve excellence.
- Hold experience working with young people (preferable, but not essential).
- Have a creative and reflective mindset within the classroom.
- Be able to work as part of a team.

- This experience will allow you to gain insight into what the day-to-day classroom environment is like, and insight into the role of a teacher.

- The proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.
Full-time role – Monday - Friday. Start ASAP for the rest of the 25/26 academic year and beyond. £575 - £600 per week - term time only.
