The Opportunity:
- Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Specialist Provision)
- Setting: Specialist primary provision for pupils with additional needs
- Focus: Aspiring Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, or SEN Teachers
Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent, nurturing support for pupils with a range of additional needs, particularly communication and interaction difficulties.
- Deliver structured 1:1 and small group interventions, focusing on emotional regulation, communication, and engagement in learning.
- Support the implementation of individualised learning and behaviour plans, developed alongside a multidisciplinary team.
- Use visual supports, routines, and adapted teaching strategies to help pupils access learning and feel secure.
- Foster a calm, safe, and inclusive environment that promotes independence and confidence.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s development.
What We’re Looking For:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field (2:2 or above)
- A genuine interest in special educational needs, particularly autism and communication needs
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience working with children is desirable, but not essential
- A passion for progressing into education, educational psychology, or therapeutic roles
