Step Into Teaching is seeking a dedicated, proactive and compassionate Graduate Pastoral Leader to play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of students. You will work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, and parents to ensure all students feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

This is a vital role at the heart of our school community, ideal for someone with strong interpersonal skills, experience working with young people, and a commitment to helping students overcome challenges and thrive.

The Opportunity:

  • Graduate Pastoral Leader
  • Graduates with a 2:2 or above Hons degree required*
  • 1:1 & Small Group work
  • Secondary School
  • Coventry, West Midlands
  • Full‑time roles – Monday – Friday
  • £575 – £625 per week

The successful graduate must:

  • Demonstrates excellent communication, relationship‑building and de‑escalation skills.
  • Is empathetic, reliable, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Can work effectively with families and external agencies.
  • Is highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Understands safeguarding and child protection procedures (training will be provided).
  • Is committed to promoting the wellbeing and academic success of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily pastoral support to students, offering care, guidance and practical support.
  • Lead on behaviour management and promote a positive, respectful school culture.
  • Monitor student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and engagement, intervening where necessary.
  • Work closely with Heads of Year to manage pastoral cases and coordinate appropriate support.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families, supporting communication between home and school.
  • Deliver small‑group or 1:1 interventions to promote resilience, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes, ensuring concerns are escalated appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce reports where required.
  • Support whole‑school pastoral initiatives, assemblies, and enrichment activities.
