Step Into Teaching are supporting a secondary school in Birmingham (B8) with Reading intervention support with key literacy skills.

The Opportunity:

  • Graduate Teaching Assistant - Reading Interventions
  • Must hold a 2:2 or above Hons degree
  • Monday to Friday - Full-Time
  • Secondary School, Birmingham (B8)
  • £500 - £530 per week
  • Ideally suited for aspiring teachers

The successful graduate must:

  • A passion for English/Literacy and a desire to help students understand and enjoy the subject.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous tutoring or mentoring capacity is desirable but not essential.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, with a strong commitment to students’ learning and wellbeing.
  • A desire to pursue a career in teaching (PGCE/Qualified Teacher Status - QTS) is an advantage but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students who need additional help with their Literacy skills.
  • Monitor and track students’ progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.
  • Assist with classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Help with the marking of student work and providing constructive feedback where necessary.
  • Contribute to the development of lesson plans and teaching resources.
  • Attend meetings and participate in professional development activities to enhance skills.
