Are you a graduate looking to gain invaluable classroom experience before progressing into teacher training or another career working with young people? Step Into Teaching is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Witham to recruit Graduate Teaching Assistants for September 2026. This full-time, term-time opportunity will see you working across a variety of departments, supporting students both in the classroom and through targeted intervention sessions, giving you the experience and confidence needed for a future career in education.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing in-class support across a range of subject departments, helping students engage with learning and make progress
  • Delivering targeted interventions on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to improve attainment and build confidence
  • Supporting teachers with lesson delivery, classroom management and learning activities
  • Working with students of all abilities, including those with additional learning needs
  • Assisting with classroom organisation and the preparation of learning resources
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Building strong relationships with pupils and becoming a valued member of the school community

The Role

  • Location: Witham, Essex
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Contract: Full‑time | Monday-Friday | Term Time Only
  • Salary: £500–£530 per week

Candidate Requirements

  • A 2:2 degree or above (all degree subjects considered)
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths

  • Enthusiastic, adaptable and committed to making a positive impact
