Salary: Dependant on experience
Office base: Wigan, WN3 5BA – hybrid/agile working after a period of training
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

The Role
As a Paralegal in our Clinical Negligence department, you’ll support solicitors handling complex and rewarding cases. You’ll assist with client care, prepare key legal documents, manage records, and help progress claims efficiently and to a high professional standard. You’ll be part of a supportive team that invests in your growth, with clear processes and supervision to help you thrive.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising and attending clients (telephone, email and letter)
- Preparing funding documentation
- Requesting, chasing and reviewing medical records
- Drafting instructions to experts and counsel; arranging and attending conferences
- Drafting letters of claim, witness statements, schedules of loss and court documents
- Preparing electronic bundles for conferences, hearings and trial
- Using the case management system fully and working paperless (flow files, accurate diary)
- Ensuring full GDPR and policy compliance
- Supporting effective team working, including assisting/training colleagues, new business cover and new starter training where appropriate
- Carrying out administrative duties (electronic bundling, saving/scanning correspondence)
- Helping promote the department via social media and other channels

Essential
- Law degree (2:1 or above)
- Maths and English GCSE (minimum C, 4 or equivalent)

- Ability to work as part of a team
Desirable
- Previous experience in clinical negligence or personal injury
- Experience of using a case management system
