The Leicestershire College is looking to recruit a Contracts & Governance Officer - Legal to join a small and friendly team in the Governance & Legal Services department. The post holder will carry out routine legal work including drafting and reviewing contracts, mainly for the College’s contracted provision (to include subcontracting-in, subcontracting-out, all commercial contracts, HE, International and Apprenticeship contracts). The postholder will also provide governance support, including clerking governor meetings, and will assist with data protection, freedom of information, complaints, and appeals.

You will have a thorough understanding of contract law, either through a law degree or GDL, or other degree level qualification covering contract law. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication and negotiation skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, and who can work closely with staff at all levels of the College.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing contracts and managing in-year changes to contracts
  • Prepare and review contracts, agreements and other legal documents
  • Providing timely and reliable internal advice on contracts and legal issues
  • Supporting College governance

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
